Where is EI System memory slot

Hello
My EI System 3000 laptop is low on memory.
It comes with 128 MB.
I picked up a couple of 256 MB cards.
But when I take the cover off the memory bank underneath the computer, there
is only one slot.

Anyone know where the other memory card goes?

I did once come accross a machine (a Compaq Evo 410) which similarly only
has one memory bank underneath the laptop. The second one is underneath the
keyboard.
Of course I don't want to dismount the keyboard just on the off chance.
Thanks

Don't know if it's similar, but I pulled the keyboard of an EI system
3001 laptop on a similar hunt for the 'other' memory socket and didn't
find it. Came to the conclusion that there is some duff socket count
info on major memory configuration sites about these cheap machines.

That one was actually made by ECS (actually a Patriot G320), was
originally supplied by PC World with 256MB memory - and was screaming
for another 256MB to give XP SP3 a better chance of not killing the hard
drive with swap file thrashing.

If yours is as low spec as the one I was sorting out, I'd do the humane
thing, get rid and find a better replacement - or shove Lubuntu on it.

It's in fact my mother's machine. She's in her 80s and only uses it for
email. But it's nice to have a working machine there for general surfing
and suchlike when she has her grandchildren to stay - and they often
bring their own PC with them anyway. So not really much point in
changing it.
I wonder whether it's anything like my wife's Compaq Evo 410. This has
one memory bank in the usual place on the bottom. But the other memory
bank is situated underneath the keyboard.

I' ll take a look at your link. thanks.
